Self-tanner in summer: a glow without extra sun exposure

A tan doesn't have to come from hours in the sun

Many people want a healthy glow in the summer. Understandably, a little color can look fresh. But deliberately baking in the sun is not skincare. Your skin often pays for that color later with dryness, hyperpigmentation, redness, or premature skin aging.

Self-tanner is therefore an excellent solution for those who want color without additional UV exposure. Important note: self-tanner does not replace SPF. Your skin may look tanner, but it is not protected from the sun.

How to make your tan last longer

  • Gently exfoliate beforehand, especially on knees, elbows, and ankles.
  • Hydrate dry areas well so that the color applies more evenly.
  • Work in thin layers and prefer to build up the color.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after use or use a mitt.
  • Always use SPF during the day.

A tanning product works best on calm, well-cared-for skin. So don't see it as a stand-alone trick, but as part of your skincare routine.

Do you want to use tanning for a holiday, wedding, or party? Don't start on the morning itself. Test it calmly beforehand so you know which shade and application method suits you best.
